It was a while since AS Monaco officially confirmed a player from the successful 2021-22 season running it back in the 202-23 season.

Donatas Motiejunas re-signed for the next season, the team announced Monday.

“Last season was quite good overall with a brilliant run in the EuroLeague and a good result in the domestic league, despite the Final being disappointing,” the Kaunas-born forward/center recapped the 2021-22 season, per the press release, “I feel that the club is investing toward achieving its goals this year in the EuroLeague and most importantly win the Betclic Elite. Many good players have joined the team but management has also kept a lot of players. This produced more unity and motivates more than ever with a stronger team spirit. All this prompted my decision to stay as the best option for me and the club.”

La Roca Team re-signed head coach Sasha Obradovic and went on extending the contracts of Mike James, Donta Hall, Alpha Diallo, and Yakuba Ouattara. New additions were Elie Okobo, Jordan Loyd, John Brown III, Jaron Blossomgame, Matthew Strazel, Adrien Moerman, and Yoan Makoundou heading to the 2022-23 editions of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and Betclic Elite LNB Pro A.

Motiejunas packing 9.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game helped Monaco reach the Playoffs in its debut EuroLeague season. Averaging 11.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest described his efforts at the domestic level all the way to the Finals of the French league and the narrow 3-2 defeat to LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.
