Nick Calathes moves to Fenerbahce.

Fenerbahce Beko announced the addition of former All-EuroLeague guard and all-time assists leader Nick Calathes through 2024.

Calathes, 33, spent the previous two seasons with Barcelona. He had one year left on his contract with the Catalan powerhouse but the two sides reached an agreement for the termination of the deal prior to the player’s move to Fener.

During Calathes’ stay at Barca, the team won the Spanish ACB League championship of 2021 (their first since 2014) plus the 2021 and 2022 Copa del Rey titles. The Blaugrana also returned to the EuroLeague Final Fours after a seven-year absence, participating in the championship game of 2021.

Calathes will now be reunited with coach Dimitris Itoudis, under whom he played at Panathinaikos from 2009 to 2012, when the latter served as an assistant to Zeljko Obradovic. Throughout his career, the veteran Greek playmaker has been a EuroLeague champion in 2011, a two-time (2018, 2019) member of the All-EuroLeague First Team and three-time season (2018, 2019, 2022) assists king, He also won multiple domestic trophies with Panathinaikos, plus the 2013 EuroCup title and season MVP as a player of Lokomotiv Kuban.
