Injury issues piling up for Real Madrid, before even launching the 2022-23 schedule of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Carrying a thigh injury from the 2022 EuroBasket, Adam Hanga lasted only three minutes in the 2022 Supercopa Endesa and was confirmed on the injury list to be further evaluated, the team announced Tuesday. The team did not set a timetable but the experienced forward is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks.

Hanga, 33, resurfaced at the international level and appeared in two out of the five games of Hungary in the preliminary round of EuroBasket. The injury forced him to sit out remaining action as the national team of his country was eliminated with a 0-5 record in Cologne. Tallying 17 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game painted the statistical picture of his efforts against Bosnia-Herzegovina and France.

The persisting injury on his left leg pushed him out of the upcoming games, starting from Spain’s Liga Endesa Regular Season Round 1 visit to Girona tomorrow, Wednesday. Scrolling down the 2022-23 schedule meets the EuroLeague opener at Panathinaikos on 6 October.

Besides Hanga, Nigel Williams-Goss and Carlos Alocen were also out for Supercopa. In addition, Rudy Fernandez picked up an injury in the championship game against rival FC Barcelona and will sit out tomorrow’s fixture opposite newly-promoted Girona.

Sidestepping the injury bug, the team coached by Chus Mateo destroyed tournament host Coosur Real Betis in the Semifinals and survived the overtime thriller opposite Barca to win the first domestic title of the 2022-23 season.
