Panathinaikos big man George Papagiannis is our choice in the center for this double-action week

By Dimitris Minaretzis/ info@eurohoops.net

Last week we decided to trust Marius Grigonis and he finally had his first good game of the season. Plus our captain since day one is Sasha Vezenkov and he continues to dominate, being last week’s MVP.

So this time around, we will pick another Panathinaikos player that we know really well, and who also started slowly, but it’s just a matter of time for him to produce numbers.

So why Papagiannis?

“Big Papa” averaged a mere 5.5 PIR in two games so far, way too low for his value both in real life and “fantasy” play. He plays fewer minutes than last year since there is also Arturas Gudaitis, thus reducing his presence (22:36), but at the same time, he has not been able to use these minutes.

So far he has zero blocks. So somewhere it doesn’t stick to us and that’s why we believe that against the ALBA, which has a giant in Christ Koumadje at the center position, Papagiannis will play enough and well.

His price is at 11.7 units, lower than the original and we think it’s a good opportunity to grab him, even for this two-day period. ALBA plays at a high pace unlike Panathinaikos and on paper, Papagiannis will be used longer as a matchup with another giant, Christ Koumadje. It’s worth the small risk…

Small changes

Otherwise, we’re going for minor variations as we don’t want to change the in-form Ben Bentil, Billy Barron, or our substitutes. We suggest the addition of Nigel Hayes-Davies of Fenerbahce, who is doing much better with Dimitris Itoudis than at Barcelona, as is the case with Nick Calathes who also followed the same path.
