Nando De Colo returned to Istanbul and scored 10 points as an opponent of Fenerbahce, but in the big picture that didn’t matter. Fenerbahce got a home triumph with ease over ASVEL (84-63) to get to a 3-0 start in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season.

Carsen Edward with 19 points, Scottie Wilbekin with 15 points and four made threes, and also Jonathan Motley with 13 led the scoring of Fener, while Nick Calathes once again did a bit of everything with 11 points and 8 assists.

“The players made this game look that easy, so credit should go to them”, said Fenerbahce coach Dimitris Itoudis after the final buzzer.

After a close first half which ended with the hosts leading by six (42-36), Fenerbahce dominated the third period, kept ASVEL to just 10 points, and entered the last quarter leading by 19 (65-46).

“The first thing was our defense, we kept the opponents at 63 points and everyone stepped up”, said Calathes after the game. “We have a lot of guys who are talented but we are going to win as a team”.

ASVEL tried to react but the best they could do was to make it a 15-point game (66-50) before Fenerbahce stretched their lead to 24 (84-59) after a three by Edwards

Youssoupha Fall with 17 points and 9 rebounds had a very productive game for ASVEL, however, he couldn’t affect the outcome as the French side dropped to a 1-2 record.
