As reported by Umit Avci from Milliyet, Anadolu Efes‘s head coach Ergin Ataman decided to bring only two Turkish players to face Zalgiris Kaunas on the road.

Despite six local players registered in the EuroLeague, only Bugrahan Tuncer and Omercan Ilyasoglu will travel to Lithuania with the back-to-back EuroLeague champions.

According to the Turkish journalist, moreover, Egehen Arna got injured, but Erten Gazi was asked to stay in Istanbul to work on his game instead of joining the team as the 13th element.

Last week, Ataman talked about the lack of impact from the Turkish players. “The players that didn’t play in the EuroLeague this week were kept in Istanbul and followed an intense training program. This club is the club of winners and those who put their best to win. We will continue to win but those who do not have this mentality will no longer be able to wear the Anadolu Efes jersey”, he said.

After suffering a small injury in the Turkish league, Shane Larkin won’t also debut in the 2022-23 EuroLeague against the green-and-white team.
