Facundo Campazzo returned to Europe and will continue his career with Crvena Zvezda mts.
After putting pen to paper on the contract until the end of the 2023-24 season, the Argentinian joined the practice of his new team and gave his first impressions as a Crvena Zvezda player.
“So far, so good. I’m very happy to be here. Teammates, staff, and the coach received me with a lot of love and kindness, and I can’t wait to start playing“, Campazzo said.
He noted that his former NBA teammates Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic talked to him about the Belgrade team.
“They like a lot Crvena Zvezda. Both of them. Jokic talked to me more about Belgrade, the best place to live, and helped me a lot with that. Luka texted me and congratulated me. He was happy and wanted me to be here“.
A familiar face welcomed him in the Crvena Zvezda, fellow countryman Luca Vildoza.
“He was one of the reasons I’m here. To adjust to Euroleague games, FIBA Basketball, having a friend here is very important.”

Vildoza is already a fan favorite. He made them chant “Argentina, Argentina” during games, and Campazzo wasn’t immune to it.
“It was crazy; I had goosebumps watching it. That was amazing. I think it was a little about football, but also because Luka was on fire“.
Real Madrid had an option of matching the Crvena Zvezda offer but decided against it.
“I couldn’t talk too much directly to them; my agents and GM talked to each other. They helped me return, but we couldn’t make a deal. I’m happy for them, but I signed here and will do my best.”
Facu hopes to fulfill his contract with the defending Serbian champions.
“I hope so. I signed for the end of this season, and the other one, so I hope I can stay here for long.”
With a playmaker of Campazzo’s experience and reputation, the fans are already hoping for the team to reach the EuroLeague playoffs.
“I came to help the team. Do whatever the coach wants me to do. I will give my 100 percent, heart and passion in every game. We are going step by step. It doesn’t make sense to think about the future, but how to improve as a team every game“.
