Maccabi Tel Aviv guard Wade Baldwin said that he’s been in talks with the Israeli club about extending his contract early. The American player signed a two-year deal with Maccabi last summer.

“There have already been talks so far about continuing my path here and we’ll continue these talks,” Baldwin said in an interview with ONE. “As long as these talks continue, we hope we reach an agreement.”

“Absolutely [I love the club]. I think it should be taken into account that this is also about business,” Baldwin had mentioned. “There’s the business of the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball club and there’s the business of Wade Baldwin and what will be the best for each side.”

Baldwin has been the second-leading performers of Maccabi this season behind Lorenzo Brown, averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds. Maccabi is 13-12 and on a five-way tie in the sixth place in the standings of arguably the most competitive edition of EuroLeague ever.

In his latest game, Baldwin posted 15 points, a career-high eight rebounds, eight assists and three blocks (also a career best) to help Maccabi get a comeback win over Bayern Munich.

“This EuroLeague season is very similar to the coronavirus season (2019-20). It’s one of the most competitive ones and it’s difficult,” Baldwin commented. “It can be decided in the last game, but I have confidence in our place after 25 rounds in the mid of the standings. 7th, 8th, 9th or 10th place, we’re always there and I don’t think anything will change there. So I’m full of hope that we’ll be in the Top 8 of the EuroLeague. When that happens, a new season begins and everything that happened in the previous 34 rounds becomes unimportant because you have to focus on the next opponent.”
