Facundo Campazzo finally had his Euroleague debut with Crvena Zvezda, but he won’t remember it for good since his team suffered a heavy blow to their playoffs ambitions with an 80-87 defeat against Bayern in Munich.

After the game, which Crvena Zvezda lost even after a 75-66 lead with more than five minutes to go, Campazzo tried to stay optimistic.

It was a tough loss. We have to improve as a team when we have an advantage. When we were up by 10 or 9, we couldn’t find our offense and stopped playing defense. We have to try and be positive. We did some right things, and we also did some bad things. We have to be positive right now and think about the next ‘final’ against Efes,” Campazzo, who scored 16 points with seven assists on his EuroLeague return, said.

The Argentinian played his first EuroLeague match in a red and white jersey, even though he joined the Belgrade team on December 19. Campazzo wasn’t a part of Dusko Ivanovic’s team until the Bayern match due to a ban EuroLeague imposed on Crvena Zvezda.

I felt happy coming back to the EuroLeague. Still, for me, honestly, it means nothing if we don’t win. This is a team sport, and if we win, everyone’s happy. We have to try to improve that,” the Argentinian said after his first EuroLeague performance since November 2020 with Real Madrid, right before he left for Denver Nuggets.

With an 11-15 score Crvena Zvezda is sitting at No. 13 in the EuroLeague standings, with their chances for the playoffs getting slimmer by the game.

We are a great team. We want that, we wish for that, it’s our first goal, but we have a lot of work to do. We have to change our mentality, be positive and believe we can win those games. We have a great team and must be together and create that team unit. We have to play every game like it’s a final. It’s the only way we can win,” Facundo Campazzo concluded.
