Andrew Andrews finally signed the deal with PAO and he is released

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

After a couple of months of negotiating, Andrew Andrews and Panathinaikos finally parted ways.

The US guard, who came to Athens from Bursa, accepted the settlement with PAO and will get fully paid for this season.

Also, he will receive 100.000 euros for a buyout, as previously agreed when he signed the contract with the club.

Panathinaikos will now have the decision to make since they finally opened a spot in the Greek league roster for non-Greek players – six of them can be used in a game, depending on the choice of the club before the tipoff.

It’s expected that Matt Thomas will take it, and if that happens, according to rules that permit any other changes, Marius Grigonis will remain out.

Andrews was averaging 4,5 points in the Greek league, and 8,2 in his four EuroLeague appearances. He didn’t play for Panathinaikos since October, but couldn’t agree on the release formula.

The US player spoke publicly about the issue, the owner of Panathinaikos Dimitrios Giannakopoulos accused him of blackmailing the club, and even EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) had to step in.
