In the last game of the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Virtus Segafredo Bologna managed to take down Olimpia Milano 89-84, winning both games home and away against the Italian rivals in the European season.

Being asked in the post-game press conference about his opinion on how the black-and-white team played overall in the EuroLeague Regular Season, Sergio Scariolo shared his satisfaction. “In general I think that in the function of the organic and the general health we have made a more than acceptable EuroLeague, 14 victories is a very respectable number. We had a debutante approach and when the absences became from 1-2 to 4-5 we had a collapse that we were able to dilute a little with today’s victory”, he said.

“In the second part of the competition we were I think the sixth team of the EuroLeague. We paid at the beginning and when we missed half the team, it became an Everest that we could not approach. I have no regrets because we didn’t have the conditions to target us to qualify for the playoff. We tried, we won great games, and we played great basketball for many games, not at the beginning and not at the end, but overall there are no regrets”, the Italian head coach added.

During the post-game press conference, Sergio Scariolo also provided an update on the conditions of several players who are currently out. “Teodosic and Pajola are close to the return, if all goes well they could return on Sunday, while for the others it could take some time more. We see Mannion who will need a few days to recover, this back situation sometimes reappears and bothers and will have to be re-evaluated. We sail on sight, it’s better, so I don’t feel too faded”, he finally commented.

Virtus Bologna has ended the EuroLeague Regular Season in the 14th place in the standings with a 14-20 record. They will now be focused on the LBA, where they are leading the standings ahead of Milano and Tortona.
