Even though they had a tough season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Ettore Messina are sticking together.
The Italian coach confirmed he is staying for another year with the team from Mediolanum Forum.
“Absolutely, I’m going to stay next season. We’ll continue together with great confidence. We already did some good things along the way; I believe we’ll do other good things in the future,” Messina said to Rai Sport and confirmed what the club’s general manager Christos Stavropoulos recently stated.
He understands the season didn’t go as planned.
“Of course, we cannot say we’re happy with what happened this season in EuroLeague. But only one team can win the league; sometimes, people don’t understand this. If only one can win, it doesn’t mean all the others don’t know what they’re doing,” he added.
Ettore Messina joined Milan in 2019 and won the title in Legabasket last season, with two consecutive Italian Cups and one Supercup in 2020. In the 2020/21 season, he led Milan to the EuroLeague F4 in Cologne, winning third place.
Due to many injuries this season, Milano finished 12th on the EuroLeague standings with a 15-19 score and is currently second in the Legabasket standings with seven defeats after 27 rounds.
