David Blatt inducted into Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Hall of Fame

The legendary coach, currently the chairman of the club’s professional committee, was honored in a moving ceremony before the fourth game in the playoff series against Monaco

David Blatt joined the Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s Hall of Fame in a ceremony that took place in Menora Mivtachim Arena before Game 4 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs, between Maccabi and Monaco.

Now the chairman of the professional committee, considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of Maccabi, Israeli and European basketball, spent seven seasons at Tel Aviv, winning the EuroLeague title in 2014, and as an assistant coach one more.

Blatt also led Maccabi to the ABA League throne, five Israeli championships, and six state cups, and was part of the coaching staff that won another three domestic championships and three Cups.


On the occasion of his induction ceremony into the Maccabi’s Hall of Fame, which was planned a long time ago as the club assures, many well-known colleagues sent their congratulations to David Blatt.

Among them are chairman Shimon Mizrahi, NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Zeljko Obradovic, Ettore Messina, Pablo Lasso, Anthony Parker, Nikola Vujicic, Derrick Sharp, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Sofoklis Schortsanitis, and many others.

Beyond his achievements with Maccabi, David Blatt led the Russian national team to win gold and bronze at the European Championship and an Olympic bronze medal, Benton Treviso to win the championship and the Italian Cup, Darussafaka to win the Eurocup, and the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA final.
