Olympiacos Piraeus head coach Georgios Bartzokas couldn’t hide his disappointment at the press conference after losing the EuroLeague final in the last seconds to Real Madrid, but after the match, he spoke encouraging words to his players.

He made an emotional and motivational speech in the locker room, trying to relieve his players of regret and remind them of what they achieved in the 2022-23 season.

Let me express my respect for your effort all season.

It was an excellent season for a great team. We were leading the game throughout the match, but some details were against us at the end to lose.

In my opinion, the effort is often painful and unbearable to realize it. But that’s basketball; that’s sports.

You always learn from something like this. From my side, even now, throughout the season, in the semi-final, and all the crucial moments of the year, you have shown that you are a team, amazing teammates, you sacrifice yourself, and it is something that the Olympiacos organization is grateful for.

I know it’s hard right now to say it, but we still have a title shot about a month from now, and once again, we will stick together to fight and get what we deserve.

Listen, do me a favor: don’t be sullen. Let’s be proud of what we have achieved this year. Keep your heads up,” Bartzokas said to his players.
