Not a surprise at this point but Crvena zvezda Meridianbet playmaker Facundo Campazzo has a deal with Real Madrid. Per Eurohoops sources a three-year contract for 9 million euros gross is all but signed.

That leaves his net salary around 1,5 million per season due to his tax status in Spain, which means that the Argentinian will take a significant pay cut to play again in Madrid. Also, he still has to pay the part of the NBA buyout he owes to Spanish club.

Hiring Quique Villalobos from the BDA agency and considering the excellent relationship of the retired player with the storied club emerged last month as confirmation of his intentions to rejoin his former team.

Taking a pay cut just proves that Campazzo loves Madrid and his decision wasn’t money related. That was his choice and he left in table a more lucrative contact for next season with Crvena Zvezda and even bigger offers from other clubs, including Panathinaikos.

Campazzo came back to Europe in the middle of the season, after being cut by the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, and decided to join Crvena Zvezda.

He couldn’t help the Belgrade team in EuroLeague until March due to the ban imposed on Serbian champions but managed to play nine games in the top continental competitions and showed again he is one of the best in Europe, averaging 15 points and 5,9 assists, and a PIR of 18,7.
