Nikola Mirotic is turning to be the most coveted commodity in European basketball

By Aris Barkas/ barkas@eurohoops.net

Nikola Mirotic is leaving Barcelona and his next destination may change the balance of power in the EuroLeague. One of the top players in Europe is a free agent, nothing can keep him anymore in Spain, and not only the usual big spenders of the EuroLeague but also Serbian and maybe Greek teams are monitoring the situation.

While it was already reported that there was a deal between the player and Milan, the Italian club has denied that this is the case. However, Eurohoops sources confirm that there is contact between Mirotic’s camp and the Italian club and the same applies to Monaco, which needs a boost in their long-range shooting.

Moreover, since last week, there are rumors about Crvena Zvezda offering a 2,7 euros salary for next season to Mirotic, practically the money that Facundo Campazzo would earn if he stayed at Belgrade.

According to Eurohoops sources, even if that’s the plan, at this point there’s no official offer on the table since in theory Crvena Zvezda has not yet officially confirmed his presence in next season’s EuroLeague.

Having said that with both Partizan and Zvezda expected to be part of the league, Partizan is also interested in the player, since his decision to leave Barcelona and move to another environment from his side is not driven by financial reasons, contrary to the club’s line of thinking.

Meanwhile, it’s only natural to think that Olympiacos may take a look at the player if Sasha Vezenkov leaves for the NBA and also Panathinaikos is on the market willing to make a big-time move that will herald a new era of glory for the club.

So expect a very interesting summer market with Mirotic being at the center of it.
