The ACB League has announced the Tanteo list, which includes the players who have communicated their intention to return to ACB competitions. Willy Hernangomez is among them, with Real Madrid holding his rights.
The New Orleans Pelicans have decided not to exercise Hernangomez’s team option, leading to speculation about a potential return to Europe.
The 29-year-old center is considering all possibilities and is not ruling out a return to European basketball.
Hernangomez has expressed his desire for a larger role in the NBA, wanting to prove his worth among the best players and compete for a championship.
Throughout his NBA career, which includes stints with the New Orleans Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets, and New York Knicks, Hernangomez has played 345 games. He was selected as the 35th overall pick in the 2015 draft and spent his only full season with Real Madrid in 2015-16, making 14 appearances in the EuroLeague off the bench before heading to the United States.
Despite entering the 2022-23 season as the EuroBasket MVP and a gold medalist, Hernangomez had limited playing time with the Pelicans, averaging 12.1 minutes per game in 38 appearances. During that time, he averaged 6.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game.
