Dinos Mitoglou has successfully appealed his doping ban at the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), resulting in a reduction of his original 32-month sentence to 16 months. This favorable decision now allows him the opportunity to participate in the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Mitoglou, who tested positive for the prohibited substance methandienone during Olimpia Milano‘s Euroleague game against Panathinaikos on March 4, 2022, had been serving his ban since March 26, 2022. However, following his successful appeal, the CAS ruled in his favor, cutting his suspension in half.

The 27-year-old power forward, formerly of Aris (2013-14), Panathinaikos (2017-21), and Olimpia Milano (2021-22), will now be eligible to return to action on July 23, 2023, instead of the initially imposed date of November 25, 2024.

This development not only opens up opportunities for Mitoglou in the basketball market but also paves the way for his potential participation in the World Cup, scheduled to take place from August 25 to October 10.
