Panathinaikos Athens continues to make changes, with another player departing from the club. Mateusz Ponitka joins Paris Lee, Nate Wolters, Derrick Williams, and Arturas Gudaitis as the fifth player to leave the club since June 30.

Ponitka signed a one-year deal with Panathinaikos on September 23, 2022, following his outstanding performances in the EuroBasket, where he led the Polish national team to the semifinals for the first time in 51 years.

He appeared in 27 games in the EuroLeague, averaging 8.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, with a PIR of 13 per match.

Mateusz Ponitka began his professional career in his native Poland before gaining international experience with Oostende in Belgium. After a season with Zielona Gora, he played for Pinar Karsiyaka, Tenerife, and Lokomotiv Kuban, and then for Zenit Saint Petersburg from 2019 to 2022.

The experienced forward then signed a three-month deal with Reggio Emilia last August before moving to Panathinaikos a month later.

Panathinaikos also acquired four players this summer, with Luca Vildoza, Mathias Lessort, Kostas Antetokoumpo, and Dimitris Moraitis signing with the club.
