EA7 Emporio Armani Milan retains experienced power forward Giampaolo Ricci for two more seasons

The third player extending his contract with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan was officially confirmed in the form of Giampaolo Ricci, following Kyle Hines and Shavon Shields.

Ricci, 31, inked a two-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

Per the press release:Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement to extend Giampaolo Ricci’s contract until 2025. “Pippo is one of the players who perfectly fit into our environment both from a basketball and personality point of view, he is a positive guy, always ready to help the team in many small things and different roles. We are happy to have him with us again,” says Olimpia general manager Christos Stavropoulos. “I’m really happy to continue my journey with Olimpia Milan and to have the chance to keep getting excited in this city, along these fans and wearing this jersey. I’m confident that the best for all of us is still yet to come,” Ricci said.

IN MILAN – Giampaolo Ricci, born in Rome on 27 September 1991, 2.02 mt tall power forward, came to Milan in the summer of 2021, from Virtus Bologna. He was a member of the team that won the Italian championship in 2022 and 2023, as well as the 2022 Italian Cup.

HIS CAREER – Ricci grew up in Chieti where he began playing basketball in the local Magic Chieti team before moving to Pallacanestro Chieti and Stella Azzurra Roma in 2007. He stayed there until 2011. From 2011 to 2015 he played in A2 in Casalpusterlengo, then he spent a year in Verona and another in Tortona. He made his Serie A debut in Cremona, where he remained for two years, winning the Italian Cup in 2019 (averaging 9.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game). In the summer of 2019, he moved to Virtus Bologna where he played two seasons winning the 2021 Italian championship. Ricci made his debut for the national team on 29 November 2018 in Brescia, against Lithuania, then played in the 2021 Olympics and the 2022 European championships.”
