Real Madrid does not intend to match FC Barcelona’s offer for Willy Hernangomez

Plenty of recent developments connecting both Willy and Juancho Hernangomez to FC Barcelona.

Barca officially submitting a bid for the 2022 EuroBasket MVP will not be met by a response from Real Madrid using the option to match the offer, according to Eurohoops sources.

The Whites do not intend to use the rights stemming from the Tanteo list of Spain’s ACB but are instead focused on re-signing key player Walter Tavares. Talks can end up in a huge contract extension elevating the towering center among the top earners in Europe and Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Besides inching closer to Willy, the team based in Catalonia also made a big offer to Juancho Hernangomez, as confirmed by Eurohoops sources.

Willy Hernangomez is set to return to Europe after playing in 345 NBA games with the New Orleans Pelicans, Charlotte Hornets, and New York Knicks. Following the 2015-16 stint with Madrid and one year after being selected with the 35th overall pick of the 2015 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, he moved to the league based in North America for the 2016-17 season.

The co-star of the 2022 film Hustle, Juan Hernangomez may follow the same path as his older brother with 350 NBA appearances between the Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Denver Nuggets. The 27-year-old power forward was drafted with the 15th overall pick by the Nuggets in 2016, following two professional seasons with Movistar Estudiantes in Spain’s Liga Endesa.
