The Stoiximan AegeanBall Festival 2023 had many distinguished guests again this year. One of them was Mathias Lessort, the new Panathinaikos center, who has been in Greece for several days now.

The Frenchman spoke to COSMOTE TV about his experience in Syros, praising the event and his new team.

The transition to a new environment won’t pose a challenge for the former Partizan player.

It’s easy to adapt to Greece; it’s a nice place. I’m very happy to be here. Many people told me that it’s nice to live here and compete. I can’t wait to experience it,” Lessort said.

He created a special bond with Partizan fans. Can something like that happen with the supporters of Panathinaikos?

I can’t say that. I didn’t go to Serbia with the intention of forming this bond with Partizan fans; it came naturally over time. I want to give everything I have and fight on the court, be myself. I hope the fans like me, but I can’t say I will have the same bond because it came naturally.

Lessort is looking forward to playing with Panathinaikos’ latest addition, Kostas Sloukas.

It’s very good to have one of the top point guards. It’s a tremendous move for the team, and I can’t wait to play with him. He’s a winner; he’s won a lot of times over the last few years. It’s great to sign him.

The French center will have a chance to work with coach Ergin Ataman in Athens.

He’s a great coach, Ataman, the most successful coach in recent years. He knows how to win. We came here hungry for this new challenge, and we are looking forward to succeeding,” Mathias Lessort concluded.
