Real Madrid and Rudy Fernández have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which will keep him linked to the club until June 30, 2024.

The 38-year-old began his professional basketball journey 21 years ago with Joventut. In 2008, he made the move to the Portland Trail Blazers, spending three years in the NBA before joining Real Madrid. After a brief return to the NBA with the Denver Nuggets, he reunited with Madrid in July 2012.

In his 12 seasons representing our team, he has won 23 titles: 3 European Cups, 1 Intercontinental Cup, 6 Leagues, 5 Copas del Rey, and 8 Spanish Super Cups. Additionally, he has been selected twice for the Euroleague ideal five (2012-13 and 2013-2014) and twice for the league ideal five (2012-2013 and 2013-2014). He has also earned the MVP title of the Spanish Super Cup (2012), Copa del Rey (2015), and League final (2017-2018).

He has proudly represented the Spanish national team in 247 occasions and has secured 11 medals: 6 Gold (2006 and 2019 World Cups, and 2009, 2011, 2015, and 2022 European Cups), 3 Silver (2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, and 2007 European Championship), and 2 Bronze (2016 Olympic Games and 2013 European Championship). Individually, Rudy Fernández was recognized as a member of the ideal quintet of the 2009 European Championship.

Rudy Fernández will embark on his 13th season with our team, spearheading one of the most illustrious periods in our history,” according to the official announcement.

Fernandez previously revealed that he will retire from international basketball after the 2024 Olympics.
