Despite registering interests from the Portland Trail Blazers and from Partizan Belgrade, the 25-year-old American center Donta Hall decided to stay with AS Monaco, as “no exit-clause was activated”. After Jaron Blossomgame and John Brown III, he’s the third official confirmed in recent times of the red-and-white side.
In the 2022-23 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, he averaged 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, being an important factor to help his team arrive at the 2023 Final Four in Kaunas. In the LNB, won by AS Monaco against Victor Wembanyama’s Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92, he put up 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per appearance.
“Honestly, you know, over these two years spent in Monaco, there has always been progress, with seasons always better than each other. But I have the impression that it is an unfinished job. For example, last year, we reached the final of the French championship and we lost in game 5. Then this time, we are champions but we lose in the last four of the Euroleague Final Four”, he said via the club’s official announcement.
Then, he went on to explain why he decided to stay in Monaco. “I really have this feeling, as I said, that as a team we have this taste of unfinished business. Talking to my teammates, we know that we are all in this together and that we still want to do better All the guys have the same mindset to do something special, and that’s why I decided to stay in Monaco”, Donta Hall added.
Undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft, Donta Hall played both in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, and Orlando Magic, while spending some time in the G-League with the Grand Rapids Drive, the Raptors 905, and the NBA G League Ignite before making the jump overseas.
