During the official presentation of Roger Grimau as the new coach of Barcelona, which coincided with his 45th birthday, Josep Cubells spoke about the new era established at the club.
As the head of the basketball section, Cubells emphasized that with Grimau taking charge, “a new era has begun, which involves bringing in players who have a strong connection to the club, players from La Masia, Catalans, and complemented by internationally proven reference players.”
It is not entirely clear whether Cubells was referring to those who are expected to leave, such as Nikola Mirotic, or those who have recently joined, like Joel Parra from Joventut, a player developed at Estudiantes like Darío Brizuela or former Real Madrid player Willy Hernangómez. However, there is no doubt that the new signings at Barcelona align with the preferences of coach Roger Grimau, who expressed his satisfaction with them in his initial comments.
“Joel brings us energy and dedication, Willy, who needs no introduction, being the EuroBasket MVP and an NBA player who truly wants to play for us, and Darío, with his magical abilities and self-confidence with the ball,” Grimau stated.
