Baskonia announced the signing of the young Khalifa Diop from Gran Canaria.
The Vitorian team reinforced their frontcourt with the promising Senegalese center, who was trained in the Gran Canaria’s academy and will join Joan Penarroya’s team.
At 21 years old and standing at 2.11 meters tall, Diop was part of the Gran Canaria team that won the last EuroCup and was recognized as part of the best young team in the Endesa League for the past two seasons. He also received the “Rising Star” award in the EuroCup during the 2021-22 campaign.
In the EuroCup last year, Diop averaged 8.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and had a valuation of 10.6 credits. He made his debut in the ACB in the 2019-20 season and in the last campaign, he contributed 7.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and PIR of 9.3 with Gran Canaria.
The talented center was also picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2022 NBA draft as a 39th overall pick.
