Incoming adjustments to Olympiacos extend to promising Greek big Giorgos Tanoulis.

Tanoulis, 20, inked a four-year contract to move from Promitheas to Olympiacos, his new team announced Saturday. Reaching an agreement to buy out his contract with the team based in Patras, the Reds will pay 150,000 euros to complete the transfer. Promitheas also confirmed his departure earlier Saturday.

Penning a multiyear contract, Tanoulis switched from PAOK to Promitheas in 2020 and followed up with his first impactful action at the senior level. Pouring 16 points in a home loss against Olympiacos late in the 2021-22 season marked an improbable early link to his next team.

Over the three years in Patras, he made his way to 26 games of the 7DAYS EuroCup. Averaging 4.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest, including 4.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game over 12 appearances in the 2022-23 edition of Euroleague Basketball’s second-tier club continental competition, set up the upgrade to Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Last season, he additionally tallied 3.31 points per game in Greece’s Basket League.

The team coached by Giorgos Bartzokas already reunited with both Nikola Milutinov and Nigel Williams-Goss and most recently tabbed Luke Sikma. Besides Shaquielle McKissic, Thomas Walkup, and captain Kostas Papanikolaou all inking contract extensions, returning players will include Giannoulis Larentzakis, George Papas, and Michalis Lountzis.

On the opposite path and prompting the necessity for local players to cope with Basket League rules on foreign players in the active lineup, Kostas Sloukas moved to archrival Panathinaikos and Sasha Vezenkov jumped to the NBA and the Sacramento Kings. Both Joel Bolomboy and Tarik Black departed as well.
