Tornike Shengelia is expected to have a meeting with Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Friday and attempt to terminate his contract with the Italian club without involving Panathinaikos, with whom he has practically agreed on a two-year contract.

Per sources, that’s the scenario the Greek club expects to pan out, while Virtus Bologna is expecting Panathinaikos to knock on their door and demand a buyout.

Shengelia, now 31 years old, finished this season in the EuroLeague, averaging 9.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, while in his career in Europe so far, he is averaging 11.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, two assists, and 0.9 steals.

If the case of Shengelia has a happy ending, the Greens are likely to move for the acquisition of Aleksander Balcerowski, thus closing the rotation of big men.

In the contract with Gran Canaria, the Polish player has a buy-out, with the amount being 500,000 euros.

The 23-year-old last season won the EuroCup, while at the same time he was named the Rising Star of the competition. In 21 appearances, he averaged 8.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1 block, and 10.1 points in the evaluation system.
