Valencia is taking a chance on a talented big man, signing Nate Reuvers with an unusual for European standards three-year deal.

Per the EuroLeague press release: Valencia Basket has signed power forward Nate Reuvers to a three-year deal, the club announced on Monday. Reuvers (2.11 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Unahotels Reggio Emilia, where he averaged 9.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in 30 Italian League games last season, ranking third overall in blocked shots (1.2 bpg.). He will make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut in the upcoming season.

Reuvers went to Lakeville North High School, averaging 25.6 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks, which provided the platform for him to join the University of Wisconsin. He played there for the next four years and is the school’s runaway leader in all-time blocks with 184. Reuvers had 9 blocks twice during his college career: against Stanford in 2018 and Eastern Illinois in 2019.

He started his professional basketball career with Cibona VIP Zagreb, averaging 8.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 38 Croatian League games in the 2021-22 season, helping his team win the domestic league and cup double. He also led the 2021-22 Adriatic League in blocked shots (1.6 bpg.), averaging 10.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 24 games.

Last year, Reuvers showed what he can do in Italy, but he now takes his shot-blocking abilities to Spain as he enters his rookie campaign in the EuroLeague.
