Markus Howard and Baskonia reached an agreement to extend their relationship until 2026 as the club announced today with a substantial upgrade economic-wise starting from this season as well per Marca’s report.

While his current contract doesn’t involve EuroLeague options, only giving the American guard the opportunity to opt out with an NBA offer on the table, the new agreement, also per Marca’s report, has a clause for both the EuroLeague and the NBA.

Playing his first-ever Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season with Baskonia in 2022-23, the former Denver Nuggets creator had 14.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game under coach Joan Peñarroya, but couldn’t bring the Basque side to the playoffs.

In the first three official games of the season in the 2023-24 ACB, the 24-year-old contributed to Baskonia’s two victories, producing a losing effort of 23 points in the only defeat against the unbeaten UCAM Murcia. He’s been averaging 22.7 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the domestic league so far, shooting 83.2% from two, 34.6% from deep, and 91.7% at the line.
