Monaco will probably have to wait a bit longer for their greatest summer signing, but Walker’s excited for the new chapter

Kemba Walker decided to take his talents to Europe and joined Monaco last summer. He signed a contract with the French champions to play for the first time in the EuroLeague, after spending almost 12 years in the NBA.

I’m not expecting it to be easy. I’m a guy who’s had a pretty good NBA career. Coming here I know there’s going to be a huge target on my back,” Walker said.

Kemba explained what influenced his decision to make a trip across the ocean and sign for Monaco: “I’ve actually been to Monaco before and I remember how beautiful of a place it was. I always said I would love to come back and I guess God heard me.

The Hornets‘ all-time scoring leader still hasn’t worn the new colors in official matches, even though Sasa Obradovic‘s team has played and won five games in LNB Pro A.

I love challenges, love to compete at the highest level. Basketball is basketball, so I just have to adapt to the new team. I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”

His debut in the EuroLeague is highly anticipated, but it seems that the French champions won’t be rushing their greatest summer signing, as Walker is not expected to play against Valencia in Round 1. Reportedly, he will remain out of action for two more weeks.

The French champions also won’t be able to count on Jordan Loyd in the EuroLeague opener, as he is still recovering from back surgery he underwent in August.
