The new leader of Panathinaikos said he’s “not a stupid head coach” after getting the victory against Bayern Munich

After getting the 78-71 win against Bayern Munich in OAKA, Ergin Ataman laughed at Mathias Lessort’s comment about having long training before the encounters with Panathinaikos.

Asked how was getting the first EuroLeague win with his new jersey, the MVP of the game first said “It was important to get the win because we didn’t want to spend another eight hours in the gym”, joking in the post-game flash interview.

The Turkish head coach commented about that in his post-game interview. “Our day off will maybe be on Sunday because on Saturday we play against Peristeri in the domestic league, an important game. It’s very strange on social media that everybody keeps saying we made six-hour or seven-hour practices”, he first said.

“We only made four-hour video sessions, we watched the Olympiacos game and the Maroussi game because we are a new team and we watched our mistakes, and we talked about this. Tonight we had some answers”, he then explained.

Finally, he called out the accusations on social media regarding long practices before EuroLeague games. “Nobody is gonna survive with seven-hour practice, and I’m not a stupid head coach to make six-hour or seven-hour practices before EutoLeague games. Social media: please write the correct things”, Ergin Ataman stated at the end.
