With the following official press release. the EuroLeague Players Association announced the launch of the newly innovative Second Career Program for its members, helping EuroLeague and EuroCup players start a potentially successful second career outside of the court:

“In addition to the already established mental well-being program, ELPA has now launched a new service for their members, called the “ELPA Second Career Program”. The program is intended for those EuroLeague and EuroCup players who are interested in developing a roadmap towards a successful second career, which can be started during or after the basketball career. With this program, ELPA will help players transition into other areas besides basketball. The program is designed to assist players in bridging the gap between being a successful basketball player and becoming successful in other fields, be it academic or business-related.

During the program, players will receive individualized professional guidance from a specialized second career coach, who will help formulate & implement players’ personal, educational, and professional objectives, which will facilitate their off-the-court readiness for the future. The program is intended for all players, regardless of the stage in their basketball careers.

“ELPA Second Career Program” is led by a professional certified executive coach Beatriz Roca, who has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate and professional sports world. Roca previously helped numerous senior executives and professional athletes in their career and life transitions”.

Moreover, the ELPA Managing Director Bostjan Nachbar commented on the matter. “We are dedicated to continue providing professional assistance to our players and this program is another welcomed addition. The adjustment from professional basketball to other areas in life is never easy and this program will facilitate the transition between the current and future professions of our players. ELPA Operations Manager Anze Blazic and our team have done a great job establishing the program and it is great to see first players already signing up and using our new platform”, he said.
