Olympiacos coach Giorgos Bartzokas after getting two wins this week talked again about the possibility of adding a player to the roster.

While he didn’t exclude anything, he explained why it’s not easy to pull the trigger and sign a new face: “We will not sign a player under pressure from public opinion, because if we do that, it will not work out if I don’t believe that he can really help us”.

He also explained why adding a “big-name” doesn’t necessarily solve a problem: “I repeat check also the super transfers made what they delivering, plus half the teams at least are on the market to get players, because they have issues. We don’t believe that a player can give us anything right away. However, yes we are on the market, especially after the injury of Nigel (William-Goss). Still, both Sikma and McKissic are expected to return on Monday and we will make a move if we believe that it can help us. We may even add two more players, it’s possible, if we believe that they can help us, even if we have 10 non-Greek players in the roster”.

Once more, however, Olympiacos played on the limit, and as Bartzokas revealed captain Kostas Papanikolaou was able to complete only after getting an injection before the game: “A special thanks and my appreciation to Kostas Papanikolaou because he had a fantastic game, after making an injection to play because his back hurt. He was doubtful before the game, but he gave everything and he was crucial for the win. Usually, I don’t mention individual performances, but this is the sacrifices he makes for the team”.

The Greek coach also added a good word for his colleague on the bench of Crvena Zvezda and the chances of the Serbs to make the playoffs: “I want also to congratulate coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos, they have one of the strongest rosters they had in the last three, four years and they are real contenders for the playoffs”.
