Crvena Zvezda president Nebojsa Covic more or less extended an invitation to big man Filip Petrusev to come back the club, now that the Serbian player is being waived by the Sacramento Kings.

Petrusev is closer to making his EuroLeague return with Olympiacos Piraeus than with any other team and Covic acknowledged the offer made by the Greek powerhouse.

“I heard about it and that Olympiacos made a very decent offer,” Covic said per Mozzart. The door of Red Star is open for Petrusev now but it’s his and his agent’s decision. We’ll let them decide. There won’t be any hard feelings, regardless of this decision.”

Covic also touched on veteran forward Nemanja Bjelica. Fenerbahce Beko coach Dimitris Itoudis had mentioned that the former EuroLeague MVP belongs to Zvezda after the game between the two sides but the Red Star boss denied that this is the case.

“He is officially under contract with Fenerbahçe, the club has certain obligations towards him,” Covic said. “Bjelica came, and signed a contract with us. That contract was terminated by mutual agreement. Zvezda did not pay Bjelica anything, nor did he ask us for anything. He can return to Zvezda whenever he feels like playing again. Anything else I could say would be to his detriment. Not in the relationship with Zvezda, but you should understand that Fenerbahçe has certain obligations towards him and should fulfill them.”
