Only the formal announcement remains from Olympiakos in order to formalize the acquisition of Philip Petrusev with a contract until 2026, which includes NBA outs. The Serbian player will clear waivers in a few hours and Olympiacos has finalized an agreement with him, per Eurohoops sources.

Petrusev was officially placed on the NBA’s waivers list on Friday, and according to league rules after 48 hours he is available for any other team in the world.

Olympiacos already has the contract ready, which includes a release clause from the side of the Reds for the summer of 2025, but also ΝΒΑ outs if a proposal from the other side of the Atlantic arises.

Petrusev has already left Sacramento for Philadelphia and the East Coast of the US, where he is preparing for the return trip to Europe.

Eager for basketball

With his acquisition, Olympiacos will have nine non-Greek players on the roster, of which only seven will be able to be registered in the Greek league and six of them will be available for each match.

In the Euroleague, there is no restriction regarding nationality, so Petrusev can immediately join the active roster, ready and thirsty for basketball.

This was the main reason for his return to Europe, even though he had accepted a minimum offer to go to the NBA and Philadelphia last summer and bet on himself. Things changed drastically for him when he was included in the Harden trade package for the Clippers and thus lost his most ardent supporter, Sixers general manager Daryl Morey.

Sacramento acquired him wanting to give him a chance, but ultimately Petrusev’s side and the player himself believe that Olympiacos is currently a better option for him.
