Zalgiris Kaunas considers the possibility of parting ways with Keenan Evans considering that he is going to be a free agent in the summer

Keenan Evans made himself a EuroLeague star in Kaunas and ultimately that means his future with the club is in question.

With the deadline for jumping from one team to another expiring on the 1st of January and all players having the right to play for their new team after the 18th round at the start of January, Zalgiris is considering the possibility of parting ways with him for a buyout, since his contract expires in the summer.

There’s interest from several other EuroLeague teams about the player, which makes Zalgiris realize that after the end of the season, he will probably leave Lithuania for a club with higher ambitions and a bigger contract.

That’s why Zalgiris is listening to offers since there’s still a high demand for top guards in the EuroLeague. Of course, Zalgiris will get compensated for letting their main star go and everything will be decided in the next two weeks.

If he is not moved until then, Evans will complete the season with the Lithuanian club and be a highly coveted free agent in the summer.

Asked on the issue after the latest game of Zalgiris for the Lithuanian League against Wolves coach Kazys Maksvytis who recently also presented on the way out with Zalgiris denied everything, added: “Ι had a little talk with (ed. note: GM) Paulius Jankunas. Keenan has no buyout clause and it would be crazy to release him”.
