Andreas Obst returned to EuroLeague action for the first time since Round 10 by scoring a season-high 17 points on 4-4 3-pointers to help Bayern Munich beat Anadolu Efes 86 – 71 at home. The German side bounced back to wins after two straight losses to improve to 7 – 8, the same record their opponents have now.

“It feels great,” said Obst on playing again.

“I wasn’t sure about it before the game because I had 1-2 practices. But I think I tried to do my best. I didn’t have to do much, just run around get open and the other guys passed the ball to me. This was a team accomplishment.”

Isaac Bonga added 15 points plus six rebounds and Serge Ibaka contributed 13 points, seven boards plus four assists to Bayern’s win. Their team led from almost start to finish and was even up by 20 points, 71 – 51, with two minutes to play in the third period.

BOXSCORE

“I think defensively we did a great job in the whole game,” Bayern coach Pablo Laso said. “Offensively we did some mistakes but we moved the ball well and we got an advantage.”

Bayern totally in control

Efes made a couple of comeback attempts but never managed to actually become threatening. With the score 79 – 69 and five minutes to play, both teams made several turnovers and then Bayern had a 7-2 run to close the game more than comfortably.

Dan Oturu had a career night of 19 points, eight rebounds and five blocks for Efes. Daum and Darius Thompson scored 13 apiece while Shane Larkin finished with 10 points (1-6 triples), seven rebounds and six assists.

“They were better than us,” Efes coach Erdem Can said. “Defensively we made some major mistakes. Offensively we found our rhythm shots but we couldn’t make them. This is double-game week so have to focus on the next game.”
