With an official press release, AS Monaco decided to temporarily suspend Elie Okobo from all club activity after violating the club’s internal rules.
“AS Monaco Basket has just announced the temporary suspension of its French international fullback, Elie Okobo, for violation of the Club’s internal rules. As a result, Elie Okobo is currently away from all activities linking him to the AS Monaco Basket entity”, the official statement says.
During the game against Olympiacos – which resulted in the second straight defeat for AS Monaco in the double-game week after losing against Maccabi Tel Aviv – he had a verbal incident with Donatas Motiejunas after a bad shot selection.
Joining the Monegasque team in the summer of 2022 from ASVEL, the 26-year-old guard and former Phoenix Suns player has been averaging 10.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in this year’s EuroLeague. Sasa Obradovic‘s team is now 8th in the EuroLeague with a 10-9 record.
