With the deadline approaching, Crvena Zvezda could reportedly make a deal with experienced US power forward Trey Thompkins, several Serbian outlets reported.

Telegraf wrote that Thompkins is in Belgrade to negotiate with Crvena Zvezda, while Meridian Sport added that his signing with the Serbian team depends on the medical examinations.

Thompkins last played for Zenit St. Petersburg in the 2022/23 season and hasn’t had a club since then, so Crvena Zvezda is expected to wait for the results of the specialized medical examinations to decide whether to sign the former Real Madrid player.

The 33-year-old began his pro career with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2011. After two years, he joined Nizhny Novgorod before moving to Real Madrid, where he played for seven successful years, winning the EuroLeague in 2018, and ACB League four times among other titles.

Tompkins has 188 EuroLeague appearances, averaging 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds. Last season with Zenit in the VTB League, he played 24 games, averaging 10.2 points and 4.5 rebounds.
