The persisting injury bug limits options for Olympiacos on the way to Round 28 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season

Depending on the depth of his roster once again, Olympiacos head coach Giorgos Bartzokas is preparing for the matchup opposite Virtus Segafredo Bologna in the Peace And Friendship Stadium on Thursday.

Thomas Walkup and Giannoulis Larentzakis have been ruled out of Round 28 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.

The 31-year-old guard sprained his left ankle against Peristeri bwin in Round 19 of Greece’s Stoiximan Basket League Regular Season on Monday. He was already labeled as doubtful to play versus the Italian club. Larentzakis picked up a knee issue during recent international duty with Greece and was expected to remain sidelined. The injury list also features Nikola Milutinov (left foot surgery).

Dealing with shoulder soreness, Naz Mitrou-Long has been labeled as questionable. The 30-year-old guard is expected to be a game-time decision.

In good news for the Reds, Nigel Williams-Goss has been cleared to play after resuming team practices. Considering limiting options on the wing, he will run the point. Chipping in playmaking responsibilities, Michalis Lountzis will have an increased role. Meanwhile, Isaiah Canaan and Shaquielle McKissic are the available options for the ‘two’ position.

Packing 11 wins in a row across all competitions, including three in the EuroLeague, the Greek powerhouse is heading to Round 28 with a 16-11 record. A tie with Fenerbahce Beko for sixth in the EuroLeague standings, on the edge of the spots leading to a direct berth in the Playoffs, shapes a demanding challenge down the stretch of the regular-season schedule.
