There’s still plenty of possibilities to decide in Round 34 for the EuroLeague postseason

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

Starting today, the EuroLeague Round 34 will decide tons of results heading to the end of this year’s Regular Season, possibly the most balanced and competitive in the history of the competition. At least since the introduction of the current format.

Talking about the Playoffs, Real Madrid, Panathinaikos, Monaco, Barcelona, Fenerbahce, and Olympiacos have already locked the first six positions in the standings. However, only Real Madrid and Barcelona, which will respectively face Zalgiris and ASVEL away, have secured home-court advantage.

Even with a loss on the road against Andrea Trinchieri’s team, Real Madrid will still end on top. With likely-happening wins over ALBA Berlin, Bayern Munich, and ASVEL, Panathinaikos, Monaco, and Barcelona will end the regular season 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

AS Monaco will end up 2nd only with a loss coming from Panathinaikos and a win over Bayern Munich; Barcelona, instead, will need a win over the French side and losses coming from Monaco and Panathinaikos to finish 2nd.

Fenerbahce and Olympiacos, instead, will clash for the 5th place in the standings, with some unlikely scenarios in which the Greek team ends up with the home-court advantage. Fenerbahce won 79-77 in their first collision of the season, so they can even lose by one point on the road and still secure the 5th place.

Play-In showdown: what will happen between 7th and 10th?

Moving on to the Play-In showdown, Maccabi Tel Aviv will play on April 16 as the 7th-seeded team in the standings. Regarding of their game’s result against Milan, they will end up in that position.

The Italian team, instead, needs to win on the road in a neutral court to still dream about playing in the postseason. Ettore Messina’s side will finish 10th with a victory and both losses for Anadolu Efes and Partizan Belgrade. That’s their only possibility.

Entering the latest game of the Regular Season – against Virtus in Bologna on Friday at 20:30 CET – as the 8th-seeded team, Baskonia will stay in the same position with a victory. They will end up 9th or 10th depending on the results coming from Istanbul, where Efes plays against Crvena Zvezda.

Luca Banchi’s team, which just like Baskonia has already clinched a Play-In place, will finish 8th with a win over Dusko Ivanovic’s side, 9th with its loss and Efes‘ defeat against Crvena Zvezda, and 10th with its loss and Efes‘ victory.

Talking about the Turkish side, they still haven’t clinched a Play-In place. They will be 9th with a victory over the red-and-white Serbian side, or 10th if both Partizan and Milan lose, regardless of their result. With a loss at home and both Partizan and Milan victories, the back-to-back champs in 2021 and 2022 will be eliminated.

Finally, Partizan Belgrade will need to cheer for their fiercest rivals in the EuroLeague Round 34, as they need Crvena Zvezda’s win in Istanbul and their win at home against already-eliminated Valencia (12/04 at 20:30 CET) to qualify for the Play-In Showdown. Otherwise, they’re out.
