The 2006-born talent had been surprising this season

In his first season getting playing opportunities with Barcelona in both ACB and EuroLeague, it looks like Dame Sarr won’t be making his return to the court with the Catalan team anytime soon.

According to Barcelona’s press release, “the 18-year-old Italian player will participate in the Nike Hoop Summit, which will be held in Portland, United States, from April 6 to 12, without having the club’s permission.” Moreover, the player did not show up for Saturday’s training session at Palau Blaugrana.

Barcelona also listed a few points on the matter in the same press release. “In November, the player requested permission from the club to be absent and play in that friendly game. At that time, the club was open to the player’s request,” it says.

“This request was denied by the club and has been communicated to the player and his representatives over the past two weeks, given that Dame Sarr has become an important player for the team. Despite the club’s express refusal, the player has unilaterally decided to disobey this decision, announcing this Friday night that he will travel at his own expense to participate in the event.”

“This attitude constitutes a direct breach of his obligations as an FC Barcelona player. The club, which has invested significantly in the training and development of the player residing at La Masia, reserves the right to defend its interests through any means it deems appropriate,” Barcelona’s press release ended.

Dame Sarr recently contributed with 13 points in Barcelona’s win over Milan in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, while he has also promised 12.4 points per game in his last five ACB games. The 2006-year-old talent is on an expiring contract.
