Anadolu Efes head coach Pablo Laso commented on the EuroLeague format after his team’s loss to Panathinaikos in Round 38, the final game of the regular season.
Speaking after the game, Laso pointed to the NBA model as a fairer way to decide a champion.
“The fairest format is a best-of-seven playoff series. The NBA format is fairer, but you can also look at football, where the round-robin system decides the winner. We’ve had this format for more than 10 years. We need to understand it and prepare our teams accordingly,” Pablo Laso said.
Efes finished the campaign 19th with a 12–26 record, ahead of only ASVEL, and missed out on the postseason. Laso, who arrived midseason as Igor Kokoškov’s replacement, was unable to lift the team into Play-In contention.
