Žalgiris Kaunas officially announced a contract extension with Maodo Lo, who signed a new “1+1” deal that could keep him with the Lithuanian club until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The 33-year-old German guard played an important role in Žalgiris’ backcourt rotation this season, averaging 7.0 points, 2.4 assists and a PIR of 7 in the EuroLeague.

One of his best performances came in the final round of the regular season against Paris Basketball, when he scored 21 points, including 17 in the second quarter alone.

Everything suits me here,” Lo said after extending his stay in Kaunas. “My family really enjoys Kaunas, and we’ve settled in very well. The fans and the atmosphere are also the best I’ve experienced in my career. It’s a privilege to play basketball in such a crowd, environment and culture.

Žalgiris president Paulius Jankūnas emphasized the importance of Lo’s role within the team.

It’s very important to have a player like him in the rotation,” Jankūnas said. “He understands his role perfectly, and the energy he brings off the bench is invaluable.
