Panathinaikos B.C. owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos announced that the club has officially submitted a video compilation of controversial officiating decisions from Game 4 against Valencia Basket to the EuroLeague.

Panathinaikos suffered an 89-86 home loss at OAKA, allowing Valencia to tie the playoff series and force a decisive Game 5 at Roig Arena.

Head coach Ergin Ataman had already publicly expressed frustration with several refereeing decisions during halftime and after the game, while General Manager of Basketball Operations Dimitris Kontos also reacted on social media.

Giannakopoulos later addressed the situation through Instagram, revealing that Panathinaikos had formally contacted the EuroLeague regarding the officiating.

Rules in basketball change so fast that many times we are not up to date. This can many times cause aggravation and frustration to the teams and mainly the fans.

This is the case after the last game between Panathinaikos and Valencia. Fans and all involved are waiting to see how EuroLeague will interpret these calls.

We as investors in our clubs, but also co-owners of EuroLeague, must feel the obligation towards the tournament and its stakeholders to educate our fans so they are corrected when they are wrong and unfair.

Panathinaikos has sent, as allowed, an official video towards EuroLeague and is eagerly waiting for their official reply.”
