Panathinaikos B.C. has responded to the comments made by Giorgos Bartzokas after the EuroLeague final. Bartzokas spoke about the complaints from Real Madrid Baloncesto following the championship game and also criticized Panathinaikos in his statements. The Greek club answered publicly, defending its position and rejecting the coach’s remarks.
The 61-year-old coach’s statements about Panathinaikos winning the Euroleague in 1996 and 2024 arrived after a question he received after the 1-0 (94-77) win over AEK at SEF in the Stoiximan GBL semifinals.

To Mr. Giorgos Bartzokas,
Besides being a dissenter, as you yourself admitted to being, stop becoming a forger of history.
Even after winning the EuroLeague, which the whole world is now talking about openly, you continue to deal with Panathinaikos. Unfortunately, your mind cannot calm down and, when asked about the positions of the remarkable Mr. Sergio Scariolo, you unnecessarily and unprovokedly referred again to the greatest club in Europe.
We know that Panathinaikos has become an obsession for you, but stop dealing with the incomparable greatness of the seven-time European champions.
We will simply refresh your memory, responding to the non-existent messages of your yesterday’s statement that: “We have never resorted to methods, to say how many shots someone shoots. When we lose, we shake hands and leave”.
Really, do you forget that in 2012, one of the owners of KAE Olympiacos had appeared at a match at SEF wearing a T-shirt that counted the shots of a previous match?

Do you forget that, you who, when you lose, supposedly shake hands and leave, in 2014 after the fourth final, you were shouting at the referees, chasing them in the SEF corridor: “Run f@@, run”?
Do you forget that in 2019 your team left the field at halftime of the Cup semi-final?
Also, because you probably have a weak memory, let us briefly remind you of some of your public references to the referees with whom you… do not deal:
In Panathinaikos-Olympiakos 67-59 on December 23, 2013, you said: “We drove and they did not give us a foul. In the end, we only executed four shots”.
In Panathinaikos-Olympiakos 63-52 on June 9, 2013, you said: “I would like to ask a few questions that do not need answers. Why were the referees 5 minutes late at halftime? We know what happened. Why did the way they whistled change?”.
In Olympiakos-Panathinaikos 65-67 on June 1, 2014, you said: “We witnessed once again what is happening, two of the three referees, Karakatsounis and Panagiotou, had also come to Panathinaikos’ break in SEF”.
In Panathinaikos-Olympiakos 83-76 on June 10, 2024, you said: “Panathinaikos had 10 more shots for such a game. I will not be the classic graphic, like others do, to complain about the refereeing”.
In Panathinaikos-Olympiakos 78-72 on January 20, 2025, you said: “Panathinaikos had I don’t know how many more shots than us. The criteria were different in my opinion”.
Amidst all the delirium, you dared to mention the first European Championship ever won by a Greek team, which was – of course – Panathinaikos in 1996 in Paris. You referred to that particular final, when there were a lot of mistakes made by referees, the secretariat and the timekeeper to the detriment of Panathinaikos and about which the then FIBA Secretary General, Borislav Stankovic, had stated, among other things: “If we had to apologize to anyone, it is Panathinaikos for everything that happened that did not favor him, but Barcelona”.
Giorgos Bartzokas, you are too young to talk about Panathinaikos and its history.
Finally shut up and you don’t need to justify yourself anymore. All of Europe knows now. Your life is a lie…
P.S. 1) Theoretical appeals to communism and equality are good, tender embraces and rewards from the Authority and state money are better.
P.S. 2) The comments on your social media, why did you close them?
