Officially confirming the addition of Saben Lee on Tuesday, Zalgiris solidified an earlier Eurohoops report, which broke the transfer news.

The 26-year-old combo guard is the first summer move for the EuroLeague outfit.

Per the press release:Zalgiris Kaunas secured the first signing ahead of the new season, adding guard Saben Lee, who brings experience from both the NBA and the EuroLeague.

The 26-year-old guard has signed a two-year contract that will run through the end of the 2027–2028 season.

Over the past two seasons, with short interruptions, Lee played in the EuroLeague, where he represented three different teams. At the beginning of last season, the American suited up for Maccabi Tel Aviv and, in his debut game, scored 23 points and recorded 5 assists against Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Later, Lee joined Olympiacos Piraeus and, midway through this season, moved to Istanbul, where he played for Anadolu Efes, averaging 11.2 points, 3.1 assists, and a performance index rating of 12.2.

Lee played in the NBA from 2020 to 2024 after being selected with the 38th overall pick and quickly making his debut with the Detroit Pistons. He later also represented the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns. Over his NBA career, he appeared in more than 130 games, averaging 5.2 points and 2.8 assists.

“I’ve been moving around quite a bit lately, so I’d like to find a home and an organization where I can grow. That’s what I truly want, and I’m looking forward to this opportunity to show my abilities and help Zalgiris win as many games as possible. I really hope I can call Zalgiris my home for the next few years,” said Lee.

Zalgiris club president Paulius Jankunas also shared his thoughts on Lee’s arrival in Kaunas.

“We’ve always had him on our radar and have been following him. Of course, he’s played for different teams, but we see his potential, his physical tools and athleticism. People also talk about his impressive wingspan. He’s still a developing player at a very good age to take another step forward, and we believe that with our tactical system and club culture, which helps players grow, Lee can develop even further within our organization if he puts in the work,” Jankunas commented.”
