Juancho Hernangomez caused a small frenzy as he entered the indoor arena of Glyfada, where the 22oz by Stoiximan tournament is being held, with the AntetokounBros as ambassadors.
First, the Spanish forward of Panathinaikos took time with the kids who eagerly asked for a photo or an autograph from their idol, and then he spoke not only about the tournament but also about the end of the finals and his future.
Which is at… home, in Athens and with Panathinaikos.
“I can’t play right now, but we are here. We were in Mykonos last season, it’s a great tournament. They have good teams, quality players, with many of them we play against in the Greek championship. Some are veterans, everyone tries to win, so it’s competitive. We will be with the kids and have fun,” he initially said about the 22oz by Stoiximan.
He was then asked about the importance of summer preparation: “It’s huge. That’s how you prepare for the next season, how you prepare your body, get your mind ready, I think it’s very important for approaching the next season. In the NBA, summers are longer and you want to improve. It doesn’t matter your age, you want to be ‘hungry’ and get better.”
The next question was about the possible arrival of Zeljko Obradovic, but the Spaniard said he knows nothing and deferred to when it will be confirmed.
As for the Finals?
“What happens, happens. We look ahead, we have to set an example for the kids. They deserved to win, they played better at the end and that’s it. We have to prepare, be better, work very, very hard for the next season to come back,” he said.
Regarding himself and his stay at Panathinaikos, he explained, repeating twice that he is happy in Athens:
“Yes, I am very happy here. Every player wants to play, wants to feel important, I still have one more year on my contract, I feel like home is here, let’s see what happens. I am happy here.”
