Sergio Rodriguez, who worked as sports director, has decided to leave Real Madrid, as he announced on his social media.
These are very turbulent days at Real Madrid, concerning the return of Juan Carlos Sanchez to the position of head of the basketball sector, as reported by Encestando and later by Marca.
Just a few hours after this news, Sergio Rodriguez decided to resign from his position, having overseen the basketball department this season.
“After deep reflection, this afternoon I have communicated to the President the decision to end my tenure at the helm of the sports management of our Basketball Section. I have sincerely thanked him for the opportunity and the trust received during this season.”
Real Madrid’s announcement
The club also issued a statement on the matter.
“Real Madrid C. F. announces that Sergio Rodríguez has informed the club of his decision to end his time as basketball sports director.
Real Madrid thanks him for his work, commitment and dedication in all this time at the head of the section, and transmits all its affection and recognition. Sergio Rodríguez is one of our greatest legends and of European basketball, and he is an example of the values that our club represents.
Real Madrid will always be his home and he wishes Sergio Rodríguez and his family all the best in this new stage of his life.”
